Project Staff

Overview

NC Health Info is managed by the Health Sciences Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is the product of a collaborative effort, led by librarians from academic, medical and public libraries across the state.

NC Health Info is built by North Carolina librarians who are interested in consumer health and volunteer to serve as topic editors who find the best health and medical links to present on the site. The project has initially been funded by a grant distributed through the State Library of North Carolina.

 

Project Management

Diana McDuffee, NC AHEC Information & Library Services Director, Health Sciences Library, UNC-Chapel Hill
Diana initiated the first proposal of NC Health Info’s “Go Local” database to the National Library of Medicine. Her proposal led to the grant that funded the project’s first feasibility studies. Based at the Health Sciences Library, Diana directs the library services to AHEC programs statewide.

Christie Silbajoris, MSLS, AHIP, NC Health Info Director
A consumer health librarian based at the Health Sciences Library at UNC-Chapel Hill, Christie has been involved with NC Health Info since its inception and continues to oversee its development. As one of the original creators of the MedlinePlus “Go Local” initiative, Christie has a long-standing involvement in promoting consumer health library services to the public. In addition to her managerial role, she supervises the evaluation, selection, and organization of NC Health Info’s resources.

Beth Ellington, MBA, MSIS, Project Manager

Beth holds an MSIS from UNC-Chapel Hill, an MBA from Elon University, and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. She previously served as the Personnel and Planning Librarian at the UNC Greensboro Jackson Library and worked as a Graduate Assistant on the NC Health Info Go Local project.

 

Former Staff

Tina Crenshaw, PhD, MSEd, MLS, Subject Specialist
Tina worked as a Graduate Assistant with the NC Health Info Go Local project from 2005 to 2008. She assisted in NC Health Info’s collaboration with the Citizen Soldier Support Program. She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill, a Master's degree in educational psychology from Fordham University, and a Master's degree in library science from North Carolina Central University.

Linda Johnsen , Graduate Assistant

Linda worked as a Graduate Assistant for NC Health Info from October 2007 to August 2008. She assisted with the cataloging, selection and evaluation of resources.  Linda is student in the Master's program at the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill and is interested in academic and international libraries.

Allison Rainey, MSLS
Allison was a Graduate Assistant for NC Health Info from September 2006 to July 2007. She assisted with cataloging and resource evaluation. Allison holds an MSLS from the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill and is interested in academic and special libraries.

Megan Rudolph, MSLS
Megan worked as a Graduate Assistant for NC Health Info from August 2007 to August 2008. She assisted in NC Health Info's collaboration with the Citizen Soldier Support Program, as well as with cataloging and resource evaluation. Megan holds an MSLS from the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill and is interested in public and special libraries.

Jason Sokoloff, MSLS, Previous Project Manager
Jason managed the initial development of NC Health Info’s portal content from 2006 to 2007. He managed web site design, coordinated content and technical development, and facilitated the communications and collaborations of the steering committee, volunteer editors and other project staff. Jason received his MSLS from UNC-Chapel Hill and formerly served as a Graduate Assistant on the NC Health Info Go Local project.

Jeff Sumpter, MHA, MSLS, Community Outreach Librarian
Jeff was a member of the staff of the Health Sciences Library at UNC-Chapel Hill from August 2006 to August 2007. His role was to inform the health care community and the general public in North Carolina about NC Health Info and its resources. He also worked as the Research Coordinator and Outreach Librarian for the AHEC Digital Library. Jeff holds an MHA from the School of Public Health and an MSLS from the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill.
